The alarming rate of Climate Change, Hunger, poverty and unemployment is a great threat to African Countries especially Nigeria. To overcome the economic and social malaise and to achieve sustainable increase in agricultural productivity and income, adapting and building resilience to climate change and reducing greenhouse gases emissions being experienced in Africa especially Nigeria, many people are looking to Climate smart agriculture as well as a green economy enterprise. as a panacea. One of the key challenges in this sector is the need to have some real spending power and does not depend on or contribute to the destructive downward spiral of debt-loan-debt. However, there is one very obvious activity that could offer families, rural individuals the micro-enterprise that tips economic balance in favour of constructive growth and mitigation of Climate change, that activity is Apiculture. in his study in the area of this action maintained that Apiculture is an environmentally friendly and non-farm business activity that has immense contribution to the economy of segments of the society and to a national economy (Bersmp 2008).
Bees will pollinate Crops/ Plants to produce viable seeds, green economy thereby improve productivity while the green plants absorb the greenhouse gases for photosynthesis and gives out Oxygen to the Environment thereby mitigating Climate change. Apiculture gives some of the world’s poorest people the opportunity to harvest commodities of international quality and value. Issues currently facing our world include poverty, climate change, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, water shortages, pollution and urban sprawl and these often have the greatest negative impact on the most vulnerable people. While beekeeping cannot cure these problems, it offers an environmentally beneficial activity that helps people to fight against them.
